What is included in an underground gate kit?

Packages with similar model names can include different boxes, releases, controls and accessories. Comparing these five points makes it much easier to understand the real difference between two options:

• Operators: the exact references, quantity and motor voltage for a single gate or a pair.
• Foundation boxes: the box references, material and whether they are included or offered as an option.
• Manual releases: the release supplied and how you will reach it at your gate.
• Controls and accessories: the control panel, receiver, remotes and protective devices named in the package.
• Opening requirements: the supported opening angle and any extra linkage, stops or other components needed for that arrangement.

Are foundation boxes and manual releases always included?

Not always. The contents depend on the exact package and selected options. For example, CAME's FROG documentation lists foundation boxes and several release accessories separately. The family name is a useful starting point, but the full product references tell you which combination you are buying.

Does an IP rating mean drainage is unnecessary?

No. Water is expected to reach an underground box, but it still needs somewhere to drain and silt can block that route. FAAC's underground-operator guidance explains the difference between surface runoff, drainage from the box and a soakaway. Include the drainage arrangement in the site assessment and leave practical access for servicing.

Can an underground kit be fitted to existing swing gates?

It may be possible, provided the gates, hinges and site can accommodate the foundation boxes and the finished arrangement. Send us the operator and box references where known, photographs of accessible labels and the control-panel identity. We can then help distinguish a compatible replacement from a motor that simply looks similar.

Will it open to 180 degrees?

Some systems offer a wide-opening arrangement, but it is specific to the operator, accessories and available clearance. For example, FAAC lists a separate 180-degree option for the 770N. Tell us the angle you need so the required parts and supported configuration can be identified before ordering.

How do I compare hydraulic and electromechanical options?

Start with each leaf's width and approximate weight, its infill and wind exposure, and how often the entrance will be used. From there, compare the exact operator's operating limits, locking arrangement and controls. Hydraulic or electromechanical describes the mechanism, not the whole specification. Likewise, a 24 V motor still needs the appropriate control-system supply and is not automatically a battery-powered installation.

Which brand or model is best for my gate?

The best choice is the system that suits your gate, site and expected use, with package contents that make sense for the installation. A preferred brand or model can narrow the range, but the exact references and configuration still matter. If you have older equipment, send us its details and we will help identify it before suggesting a current alternative.

What should I send if I need help choosing?

Send the width and approximate weight of each leaf, whether the gates are already installed, the opening direction and angle, hinge and post arrangement, slope, nearby obstacles, expected use and power location. Photographs and any known drainage issues are helpful too. How is safety assessed for an underground gate?
