Choose an electric sliding gate kit for a new automation project by starting with the gate's weight, full travel and expected use. Then compare the motor, control equipment and accessories supplied in the exact package. The physical gate, electrical work and installation are separate from these equipment kits.
Need the wheels and supporting hardware instead? Browse tracked sliding gate hardware or cantilever hardware kits. If you are replacing an existing drive, use gate motors and operators and match the full equipment reference.

The automation drives the gate, while the track, wheels or cantilever system support and guide it. Read the contents for the exact kit and selected version so you can see which parts are supplied and which parts belong to the wider gate project.
The motor and the gate's support system need to be considered together. Record the moving gate's weight and travel, its mechanical condition, the motor position and the drive-rack layout. A cantilever gate also needs room for its supporting tail, so the clear entrance width is only one of the dimensions that matter. If you still need the structure, our cantilever gate frames are a separate product range with their own supplied scope.
Use the manufacturer's gate-weight figure to create a shortlist, then compare the exact model's gate-length, usage and operating limits. Gate infill, exposure and mechanical condition also matter. Tell us about busy periods as well as the total number of openings, because a private driveway and a shared entrance can place different demands on the equipment. The gate should run freely before automation is specified.
Motor voltage and the incoming power supply are different specifications. A kit with a 24 V motor can still use a mains-fed control system. CAME's BXV information, for example, lists distinct operator variants and technical characteristics. Choose from the complete drive, control, usage and accessory requirements rather than voltage on its own.
Compare the published speed for the exact operator version and the conditions used for that figure. The gate limits, controller, duty, rack, mounting and site layout must also suit the installation. If a particular opening time matters, include it in your enquiry so it can be considered with the rest of the system.
First identify the existing rack's profile, pitch, condition and mounting position, then compare it with the selected motor's pinion specification. Correct engagement needs to be maintained throughout the gate's travel. Ask us to check the manufacturer's requirements before extending the rack or changing the motor, and read the chosen kit's contents to see whether new rack is supplied.
The important point is the direction and degree of slope in relation to the gate's travel. Available run-back space, gate support and any tendency for the gate to move under gravity all need assessment. Send measurements and photographs so the layout can be considered before the motor is selected.
Built-in obstacle detection is one part of a powered-gate system. Sliding gates can create hazards at the closing edge, along the opening and run-back area, and beside fixed boundaries. HSE explains why safety depends on the complete gate, control system, protective devices and surroundings. The installation needs an appropriate risk assessment, correct commissioning and ongoing maintenance.
Vehicle-impact resistance is a different requirement from obstacle detection. If the entrance needs an impact-rated gate, include that requirement in the project specification from the start.
Tell us that the gate is a paired or bi-parting arrangement. It may need coordinated drives, a suitable control configuration and protective measures designed for the complete layout. Send the gate plan and required operation so the equipment can be considered as a paired system.
These options depend on the chosen control system and compatible accessories. Tell us how people should enter and leave, whether you want pedestrian opening and what you need the gate to do during a power cut. Check the package list for the equipment actually supplied, including any battery or charging components.
Compare prices between kits with equivalent contents. Extra rack, access controls, protective devices and site-specific parts can change the equipment total. The physical gate, electrical work and installation are separate parts of the project, so a kit price is not an installed-gate quotation.
Send the gate's approximate weight, clear opening and full travel, whether it is tracked or cantilever, the available run-back space, expected use, infill and exposure. Include the power location, any slope and clear photographs of accessible labels on existing equipment. Our gate automation survey form starts the equipment enquiry. Metalines supplies and specifies equipment from customer-provided information; we do not carry out site surveys or installation. Mark any unknown measurement as unknown and we will explain what is still needed.
