Want your electric gate to keep working during a power cut? Find backup battery packs, replacement batteries and the parts needed to fit them. Start with your gate motor and control-panel references: those identify the backup system your gate can use.

If you already have backup, compare the reference on its battery pack or charger with the products below. Adding it for the first time? A pair of batteries or a fixing bracket may be only part of what you need. We can help you find the right arrangement.

More about Gate backup batteries and kits

Which battery backup fits my gate?

Look for the full model of your motor, control panel and any existing backup pack. A reference such as Nice PS124 is different from PS324; they are not choices to make by battery voltage alone. The same applies to BFT's BT BAT, BT BAT 2 and Thalia-labelled products. If you cannot find the reference, send us a photo of the labels and connections.

Is it a battery pack or just a fitting?

The range includes complete backup assemblies, replacement batteries and separate fittings. CAME's LBF70, for example, is a battery fixing kit, not a pair of batteries. A charging or interface card is another separate part. Read the individual listing for what comes in the pack before ordering.

For an existing system, match the battery type, capacity, physical size, terminals and number of batteries specified for that system. A replacement with the same 12V label can still be wrong for its charger or installation. Nice's PS124/PS224/PS324 instructions show why the supported kit and control unit matter.

Will the gate work normally during a power cut?

A supported backup can keep a gate operating for a limited time, but the number of movements depends on the gate, its load, battery charge and age, and which accessories draw power. Some systems also run more slowly on backup. The product and control-panel instructions give the right starting point; there is no useful one-number promise for every gate.

It is worth knowing how to use your gate's manual release before a power cut, especially if the battery runs flat. Backup does not turn every gate into an automatic emergency exit.

Replacing an old pack or planning an off-grid gate?

Send us your motor, control-panel and battery-pack references and we can help identify a replacement. If you are planning a solar or off-grid gate, tell us that too: an outage backup is not a continuous power supply. See power supplies and related components for that separate range.
