Need a gate to unlock by keypad, tag reader, intercom or the gate motor? Start with the way the gate is used. For a manually operated pedestrian gate, a magnetic lock can suit access control when the gate and post have aligned mounting faces and the entry, exit and power-cut behaviour are planned together. For an automated gate, the lock must release before the motor moves it.
Browse electric latches, gate maglocks, electric strikes and powered drop bolts below. We can also help put together a complete access-control package for a manually operated gate, including the lock, power supply, closer, push-to-exit button and your choice of keypad, tag reader or intercom.

| Your gate | Start with | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| A pedestrian gate opened by hand, with keypad, tag or intercom entry | Gate maglock or an electric strike suited to the latch | The access control releases the lock; a closer brings the gate back to its receiving position. Add a suitable exit control for the inside. |
| An automated swing gate that needs positive locking | Electric latch or powered drop bolt matched to the automation | The gate controller must release the lock before the gate starts to move. The lock, receiving point and control sequence need to work together. |
| A replacement for an existing electric lock | The same maker and full model reference | Match the supply, mounting, receiving part and release behaviour before changing to a different model. |
A maglock uses a powered electromagnet and a matching armature plate to hold the closed gate. It suits many access-controlled pedestrian gates, provided the gate and post offer the right mounting faces. A closer can bring the armature back against the magnet after use. For example, our Locinox MAGMAG3000 is a surface-mounted option for suitable square profiles. Its 300 kg figure describes the manufacturer's pulling force, not the weight of gate it can carry.
A hold-open magnet does the opposite job: it holds a gate open, rather than locking it shut. If you are replacing one, tell us which of those jobs the magnet needs to do.
An electric latch or gate lock secures at the post and releases electrically. The CAME LOCK81 and LOCK82 are single- and double-cylinder choices respectively; choose by the required key access as well as the gate and automation arrangement. An electric strike is the receiving part that releases a compatible latch; it is not interchangeable with a whole gate lock.
A powered drop bolt locks down into a receiving point. The Locinox ELECTRADROP is one automated-swing-gate route. It is different from a manual gate drop bolt, which you operate by hand. We can help identify the right receiver and controls for the powered version.
Our FAAC selection includes the UK-GL1 24 electric lock, the 712650 electric lock, and UK-MAG 32 and UK-MAG 62 magnetic locks. These are different arrangements: use the full reference from the old lock, or tell us how your new gate needs to release, before choosing. The 712650 listing has selectable versions, so check the exact option rather than ordering by the base number alone.
Replacing a component? We also list an external cylinder and receiver slot; match each to your lock and gate. If you mean the FAAC BLOCKIT 401026, that is a mechanical drop bolt in our drop-bolt range, not an electric lock.
Compare the EM/GATE-F, EM10010EM and EM10002EM listings for the mounting and electrical arrangement your gate needs. The EM500ZLW Z/L bracket is a fitting, not a lock. If you already have a BPT lock, send us its full label and a photograph of the gate and post so we can help identify the right replacement or part.
Yes, with a suitable lock, power supply and control arrangement. A keypad or intercom may switch a relay without supplying the power that the lock needs. Tell us the lock reference and how you want people to enter and leave; we can help pair the equipment. Explore electronic keypads, intercom and access-control equipment and power supplies and relays.
Decide whether this gate should release or remain locked during a power cut before choosing the lock. The answer depends on the exact model and how the complete system is wired; manual key release and backup power are separate choices. If the gate is part of an emergency exit, tell us before ordering so its full entry-and-exit arrangement can be assessed.
This range also includes maglock brackets, cylinders, receiving slots, cable protectors and power accessories. They are useful when you already know the lock they belong to, but they are not complete locks by themselves. Send us the full model reference and clear photos of the gate and post if you need help matching a replacement part.
For a gate that uses a key or mechanical code without powered release, start with gate locks and latches. For a simple push-pad exit on a non-powered gate, see quick-exit locks.
