Looking for photocells for a new electric gate, or replacing a damaged pair? Start with the gate control-panel and existing photocell references. A conventional wired pair, Nice BlueBUS pair and CAME CXN BUS pair use different connections, even if the housings look similar.

Browse CAME, FAAC, BFT and Nice models below. The wider product grid also shows columns, protective covers, batteries, adapters and other fittings, so check whether the item is a complete photocell pair or a separate part.

More about Gate photocells and replacement sensors

Which gate photocells will work with my control panel?

Match the full model reference and its connection to your control panel. Nice BlueBUS, FAAC BUS 2easy and CAME CXN BUS are brand-specific systems; none is a general name for any two-wire photocell. A conventional wired pair needs the supply and input connections specified by its own manual.

Nice EPM or EPMB?

Nice lists EPM as a conventional pair and EPMB as a pair for Nice BlueBUS. The final B matters. An adjustable, metal-bodied or reflective Era model may have another suffix, so use the full code when replacing one. Nice's photocell range guide shows the separate models.

CAME DLX wired or CXN BUS?

For CAME DLX, CIP and CEP are traditionally wired; SIP and SEP use CAME CXN BUS. The I versions fit into a recess and the E versions are surface-mounted. Those letters tell you more than “DLX photocell” on its own. See CAME's DLX range for the four current versions.

FAAC XP20 and other replacements

FAAC separates XP20 D (785102), XP20B D (785103) and XP20W D (785104). Keep the exact number when asking for a replacement; the B and W versions are different, not cosmetic alternatives. BFT DESME, COMPACTA and other photocells likewise need their own full references. FAAC's XP20 guide lists the variants.

Am I buying a pair or an accessory?

A standard beam pair has a transmitter and receiver. Some listings here are instead a battery, protective cover, adaptor or column: for example, BFT ACV20 and ACV30 are covers, not sensors. Check the individual product's contents before ordering. If you are fitting to a post or recess, include that mounting detail when you ask us to help choose.

Does “wireless” mean no wiring at all?

Not necessarily. One side may use a battery while the other still needs a connection, or the system may use its own receiver or BUS network. Choose by the complete product instructions and the controller you have, not the word “wireless” alone.

My gate has stopped. Do I need new photocells?

A blocked or misaligned beam can stop a gate, but so can other faults. Tell us the sensor and control-panel references and what the gate is doing; we can help identify a replacement part. Have a competent installer diagnose the system, and do not bypass a protective input to make the gate move. For other detection technologies, see gate and barrier sensors.

Need a photocell cover or casing?

A cover, casing or mounting bracket must fit the exact photocell model. We can help identify BFT, CAME or Nice accessories from the sensor code; the FAAC XP20 protective cover has its own listing. Send us the code and a photograph if you need help finding the matching part.
